We are delighted to announce that hooker Aiden Roden has signed an extension to his contract until the end of the 2028 season.
Aiden, 26, joined the Canes ahead of the 2025 season after three seasons at then fellow League One side Rochdale Hornets. The former Widnes Vikings man has played 41 times for the Canes across 1 1/2 seasons, scoring 8 tries and establishing himself as a regular feature in the squad alongside fellow hookers Danny Barcoe and Brandon Moore.
Enjoying his rugby here at Avery Fields, Aiden has put pen to paper and committed himself to the Midlands project for another two seasons, which we are sure will delight everybody associated with the club!
Aiden spoke with us about his decision to re-sign with the club:
I’m buzzing to be extending for another two seasons with the Canes. Mark, Leigh and the rest of the staff at the club have contributed to me playing my best rugby since joining, so it was a no brainer for me to decide to extend.
I have already seen the progress the club has made in my two seasons so far, and I’ve been proud to have been a part of that. I’m really looking forward to the next two years and playing my part in continuing to grow the game in the region.
We also spoke with Head Coach Mark Dunning about landing Aiden for another two years:
We are delighted that Aiden has extended his contract with the club and committed to being part of the Canes family for another two seasons.
Since joining the club, Aiden has worked hard at his game and established himself as a key part of our group. Whether starting at nine or rotating from 14 with Danny (Barcoe), Brandon (Moore) or Ethan (Newboult), he is consistently hardworking and constantly striving for improvement, which are the traits that embody our philosophy as a club.
We’re very excited to see those traits shape his continued development and progression in a Canes shirt, and we know our fans will be delighted to hear about this news.
Aiden is not the only piece of retention news we have to share with you ahead of our upcoming game against Batley Bulldogs: watch this space for more contract news!
