Following consultation with the Midlands Hurricanes Supporters Club, we are pleased to confirm the following nominees for the 2026 Supporters’ Player of the Year Award:
Sully Medforth
At just 21 years old, Sully could justify being the Oxford Dictionary definition of “taking your chances“. Having joined the club permanently in 2025 as a hot prospect, injuries to other halves throughout his time at the club have forced him to develop at pace and take responsibility at a very young age as a starting half-back. It is a challenge that he has met with flying colours.
This is demonstrated by the fact he has already featured 44 times for the Canes over two seasons (with a brief spell on loan from Hull FC tacked on towards the end of the 2024 season), and his performances this season in particular have earned him huge plaudits with the Hurricanes fans – hence this nomination.
Tyler Dickinson
Dicko joined the Canes ahead of this season after a five-year stint with fellow Championship side Sheffield Eagles. Known for a ruthless aggression and ability to lead on the field, it is no shock that Head Coach Mark Dunning appointed him as a Vice Captain.
Currently just one of two players set to have played every game to date (alongside Aiden Roden), Dicko has been ever-present in the lineup, scoring three tries in 26 games and routinely making strong carries with high post-contact metres that have seen him pick up multiple Man of the Match awards.
Zeus Silk
Zeus, 28, has been a fan favourite ever since first stepping onto the pitch at The Alexander Stadium at the start of the 2025 season. His hard-running style – combined with a seeming lack of care for his own welfare – has understandably earned him the right to have “ZEEEUUUUSSSS” chanted every time he makes a carry.
Often appearing off the bench with fellow “bash brother” Isaac Shaw, Zeus has scored three tries in 40 appearances across two seasons. The fact his only try of the season to date (away to North Wales in Colwyn Bay) got the biggest cheer of the afternoon shows just how much he is respected by the fans.
Matty Chrimes
It may come as no surprise that the club’s top try-scorer this season – earning himself a club record in the process – has been nominated for this award, but fans will tell you that Matty’s contribution to the team is more than just scoring tries.
As a player regularly being one of the first to take the ball in during a set, able to take over kicking duties as emergency cover and to slot in at the centres or at full-back as required, it is Matty’s versatility and perseverance over this season that has earned him this nomination.
The Supporters Club would also like to give a special mention to both Lewis Else and Aiden Roden, who narrowly missed out on being nominated after both have had an impressive 2026 season.
You can vote for your proposed winner by commenting on our pinned Facebook and Instagram posts, or voting on the poll pinned to our X (Twitter) profile. Polls will close at 23:59 on Tuesday 25 August 2026.
